YEAR2017
Exhibition design for Beacon, Radius’ contribution to Sonic Arcade: Shaping Space with Sound at the Museum of Arts & Design in New York City.

The exhibition was an archival reflection of the previous 7 years of Radius, an experimental radio broadcast platform established in 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. Radius produces, exhibits, and distributes work by radio and transmission artists from around the world.

I designed a wall of photographs and print ephemera that surrounded Radius’ own beacon, the Audio Relay Unit, a mobile Low Power FM radio transmitter. Museum goers were also able to listen to the episode archive of Radius using FM radios and headphones that were incorporated into the exhibition design.

ABOUT
I’m a designer with a background in photography, publishing, and librarianship.

Most recently, I was an in-house Designer at Harvard Innovation Labs. Freelance clients include Hindman Auctions (Freeman’s | Hindman), Pillar VC, First to Knock,  Jay Youngdahl, and more.

Before my career in design I was an academic librarian at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

In my spare time I maintain a personal art practice that is based in photography. Since 2017, I have published and edited Challenger, a BMX magazine that takes multiple forms. Its current form is a monthly subscriber only newsletter.
