YEAR2017Logomark and printed matter for the series Ground, by Radius. This series was a a three-part, site-specific commissioned radio series that focused on
radio’s direct physical connection to the Earth. GROUND investigated how
the Earth manipulates, fragments, and fluctuates radio transmission and
reception. Radius GROUND Series featured site-specific works
in Chicago from national and international artists and each part of the series was performed, installed,
and broadcast from such places as a greenhouse research laboratory,
aboard a boat in Lake Michigan, and
underground, deep inside a natural cave. The series examined how
energies, organisms, and geologic material influence the electromagnetic
spectrum.
For the logomark, I took the Earth Ground symbol, and disconnected it to make an abstract shape that would reflect the overarching idea of the series: how Earth and humans influence and alter the electromagnetic spectrum.
